Thank you parents for coming in to visit and discuss your child's progress during parent/teacher conferences.

I am sending home a new packet of vocabulary words and spelling words for themes 5 and 6.
The week of February 21st we will be on the story Antarctic Ice, which will be lesson 21 on the vocabulary and spelling lists.

Math State Assessments will take place March 5th, 6th & 7th.

We are into February already. Wow, the time is flying. The weather we have been having lately makes us all feel like spring is here! The kids have been working very hard and are making great progress. Thank you for all your help and support this year as we prepare the children for fourth grade and for the first time of taking state assessments.

Homework

Please check and remind your child the importance of turning in their homework on a daily basis. Any review over time and money that you can reinforce at home is always helpful. This week in math we will be working on data sets, maximum, minimum, median, range and mode. In our reading unit we will be on story 17.

Spring Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up soon, February 15 and 16th. Sign up times went home today Jan. 17th. I will do everything I can to give you your first choice time slot. Please send back the time you would like as soon as possible.

We are in our second reading book. It willcover themes 4-6, which will take us to the end of the year. It's hard to believe we are through half of the year.

I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break. We are off and running now until after state assessments. We will be working very hard as we learn new skills in math. We will also continue to work on the skills we have already learned. There is a lot to get accomplished in a short amount of time. It will be here before we know it. Our kids are smart and they can succeed at anything they set out to achieve.

On Friday we had a party to say goodby to Ms. Anderson. We sent her off with gifts and lots of hugs. We wish her a wonderful teaching career.
Next week we will be taking the Math QT and the following Monday and Tuesday we will be taking the Reading QT.

School Year 2011-2012

Thanksgiving is almost here and it has been a great year so far. Instead of sending home a newsletter I will be posting all classroom information on this blog. You are welcome to leave me any notes here as well and I will be checking in to see your comments.

Ms. Anderson will be finishing up her student teaching in our class on Tuesday Nov. 22nd. She will be observing in other classrooms until Dec. 9th. Ms. Anderson has done a wonderful job. We will miss her and wish her well in finding a permanent teaching position.

I am very excited to be teaching my kids again. I have missed being with them and look forward to being in the drivers seat again!
